Harvest Jubilee & the Stanwood/Camano Island/Silvana Farm Tour

Saturday, September 25th

Discover the agricultural richness of the northwest corner of Snohomish County and Camano Island, where the farms are many, the people are friendly, the food fantastic and where you’ll find an abundance of activities for all ages.  Come celebrate our fourth annual Harvest Jubilee and the Stanwood/Camano Island/Silvana Farm Tour! It is a family-friendly one day event occurring on Saturday, September 25, 2010.  It is accessible to all and offers folks a chance to experience the area’s rural character.  Visitors will see examples of working farms and connect with the farmers who make locally grown food, fiber and other products possible. The tour is FREE, start anywhere, take in as many or as few farms as you like.

For tour maps, and details about all of the activities, visit: www.HarvestJubilee.org

 Event Hub:

The Harvest Jubilee Event & Tour information hub is located at The Country Store parking lot in the center of Stanwood.  There you will find antique tractor locomotive rides, sustainability information, “growing groceries” experts, arts & crafts, beer and wine garden featuring Diamond Knot Brewery and local wineries, a variety of great local food and live music all day!  Also, obtain more information about Stanwood’s future chapter in SLOW Food USA.

 Farms and Markets:

Visitors can wander at their own pace to over a dozen different area farms, with an emphasis on natural and organically grown methods.  Stop at one of the farm stands or markets or meat markets and take home food for your table. Check out everything from alpacas, chicken, ducks and honey bees to all types of herbs and produce -- orchids, seasonal flowers, nursery plants, pumpkins, apples and corn, to name a few.  Enjoy a hayride while choosing your Halloween pumpkins.

 Berries, Farms & Dairies Exhibit:

Take a walk through history over at The Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center.  The Stanwood Area Historical Society presents an exhibit, “Berries, Farms & Dairies” depicting early farming history through photographs and artifacts.  The exhibit is open 10am-2:00pm upstairs at The Floyd.

Farms, Fields & Foliage Art Show:

Also at the Floyd, visit “Farms, Fields & Foliage”, juried fine art show sponsored by The Camano Arts Association.  The Harvest of Art Show includes the beautiful artwork of painters, sculptors, glass artists, mixed media art, photographers, jewelers and ceramic artists.   Take a moment to drop in and meet the artists, see really fantastic artwork and find that special treasure for yourself or that perfect one of a kind gift for a friend.  The show is free and open to the public 9:00am-5:00pm both Saturday & Sunday.
